About APAAR

  • APAAR stands for the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry, also known as ‘One Nation, One Student ID.’
  • APAAR serves as a registry for institutionsstudents and faculty by creating lifelong credentials, and Academic Bank of Credits (ABC).
  • It is an Education Ecosystem Registry or an ‘EduLocker.
  • It is aligned with National Digital Education Architecture (NDEAR).
  • It will give a unique identification number to each student (enrolled from pre-primary to higher education). It will streamline the admission process for students transferring schools and colleges across the country. Seamless tracking of their academic journey and achievements will be made possible. It will also help government agencies monitor dropouts. It promotes transparency and efficiency in the education system.
  • The National Educational Technology Forum (NETF) under the Ministry of Education initiated the concept to create a comprehensive educational ecosystem registry that includes students, teachers, schools, and colleges.
