Why in news?
- Digital quality of life index has been published.
About DQLI:
- The index is prepared by Surfshark, a virtual private network (VPN) provider based in the British Virgin Islands.
- It is based on the global research on the quality of a digital wellbeing in 85 countries (81% of the global population).
- This study indexes the countries by looking at five fundamental pillars that define the digital quality of life.
- The five pillars are: Internet affordability, Internet quality, Electronic infrastructure, Electronic security, Electronic government.
- Sweden, Denmark and Canada has the topmost positions in the index.
- India scored a mid-level 57 rank, but did well on two indicators: internet affordablity & good e-governance.
- India ranks 9th in affordability and 15th in e-governance but scored 78 and 79 in Internet quality and Electronic infrastructure, pulling down the total rank.
