IN NEWS:
- The Agriculture Ministry recently said it will fund 234 more startups in the agriculture and allied sectors with a sum of Rs 24.85 crore under RKVY scheme in the current fiscal.
What is RKVY?
- RKVY scheme was initiated in 2007 as an umbrella scheme for ensuring holistic development of agriculture and allied sectors.
- The scheme provides considerable flexibility and autonomy to States in planning and executing programmes for incentivizing investment in agriculture and allied sectors.
About RKVY-RAFTAAR:
- It stands for Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana-Remunerative Approaches for Agriculture and Allied Sector Rejuvenation(RKVY-RAFTAAR).
- It is the revamped version of RKVY.
- It aims for making farming a remunerative economic activity.
Major focus:
- Under RKVY-RAFTAAR, major focus is on pre & post-harvest infrastructure, besides promoting agri-entrepreneurshipand innovations.
Sub schemes:
- Bringing Green Revolution to Eastern India(BRGEI)
- Crop Diversification Programme(CDP)
- Reclamation of Problem Soil(RPS)
- Foot and Mouth Disease-Control Programme
- Saffron Mission
- Accelerated Fodder Development Programme(AFDP)
Funding:
- RKVY-RAFTAAR funds would be provided to the States as 60:40 grants between Centre and States and 90:10 in the North East.
- For Union Territories the funding pattern is 100 % central grant.
